Holidays: How to eat without gaining weight

SF Personal Trainer London - Holidays: How to eat without gaining weight

The last thing we want is to get back to square one after a lovely holiday with family and friends.

I have put together some recommendations to help you stick to your goal while enjoying your holiday as much as possible.

-Do not exceed with fruit

Most of us are convinced that fruit as a healthy choice will make it almost impossible to gain weight. Unfortunately, despite fruit being rich in vitamins, it also comes with carbs and calories.

Aim to consume fruit reasonably before or after a meal.

-Make breakfast your ally

Since on holiday, it is very likely to have lunch or dinner at restaurants. Try to consume fewer and better calories for breakfast.

Aim to consume fruit and a fiber rich meal like oats or muesli. Greek yogurt will also help you feel fuller for longer.

-Reduce hunger

Aim to drink plenty of water and a piece of fruit before your main meals. It will help you stay hydrated and reduce the sensation of hunger, helping you consume fewer calories at the restaurant.

-Protein First

When eating out, aim to order meals rich in protein. Ideally grilled, or lightly cooked like fish, steak or seafood. Pair it with veggies or grilled potatoes.

-Balance your carbs and fat

When planning your nights out, try to plan your meals in a way that allow you to have what you want without exceeding. Example; if you are having a pizza one night for dinner try to have fewer carbs and fat for lunch and breakfast.

-Do not snack

Save your calories for your main meals. By doing so you will be able to eat more and things you like, reducing the risk of gaining weight on holiday.

-Put the kids’ food down

Chances are kids, especially the young ones, hardly finish their meals. This is not the time to be waste conscious and finish whatever is on their plate. Stick to what is on yours. Put everything else in a doggy bag for the kids to finish later.

-Walk

As simple as effective. Stand up and walk. Places are not as far as you perceive them. No excuse not to hit 10K+ steps while on holiday.

-Sweet dreams

Sleeping plenty and well will help you regulate your hunger and boost your fat loss. It is no surprise we might lose weight on the first few days of holiday as we are resting better and longer.
