Lat Pulldown Machine
Start: Take an overhand grip that is wider than shoulder width on the bars of the lat pulldown machine. Position yourself on the seat with your feet flat on the floor, arms extended overhead, cheat up, and low-back arch slightly exaggerated.
Move: Pull your shoulder blades together as you squeeze your lats to initiate the movement, pulling the bars down in a smooth motion to your upper chest. Hold the contraction for a moment, then slowly return the bars all the way back to the starting position stretching your lats.
Keep in mind that if you are not depressing your shoulder blades as you pull you would be pulling the bars only with your arms and not with your lats. Lower the weights if necessary till you can engage your lats properly.
